Since 1881, The Northern has attracted some of the greatest names in the game. Whether you're here to practice, play or compete, you will find The Northern a welcoming club with strong links to the local community.
The Northern offers tennis coaching programmes for all ages. Our coaches have a vast wealth of playing and coaching experience and are always available to answer any questions you may have.
Play
Social tennis and access to the courts is included in the full membership. Play with friends or connect with others of the same ability. We also host a number of box leagues for you to test your skills.
Teams
The Northern hosts the Manchester trophy and a number of tournaments throughout the season. We are also proud to partner with the University of Manchester Tennis team who have full access to our facilities.
Outdoor facilities
Tournament level courts
At the Northern, we have 18 outdoor tennis courts, comprising of nine grass courts, three clay courts and six synthetic tiger turf courts. In a typical season, outdoor play commences on the grass courts around the second week in May and finishes around the second week of September.
Indoor facilities
Stay at your peak all year round
With three indoor full size courts, an indoor half wall and a junior court, you can keeping training and playing all year round. All courts are included with full membership.
