Receptionist
Part-Time | 13+ Hours Per Week
The Northern is one of the UK’s leading members’ racket sports clubs, offering tennis, squash, padel, fitness and social facilities in the heart of West Didsbury. We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and proactive Receptionist to join our team and help deliver an outstanding experience for our members and visitors.
This role has been created specifically to support our busy weekend periods and is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people in a fast-paced environment.
This is an immediate start position. We are looking to fill the role as soon as possible, and candidates who are available to start sooner will be given priority during the recruitment process.
Hours
This position is based around our weekend rota. You will be required to work two of the following shifts each week (including at least 1 Sunday shift):
- Friday: 2:30pm to 10:15pm
- Saturday: 2:30pm to 10:15pm
- Sunday: 7:45am to 2:00pm or 2:00pm to 8:00pm
This equates to a minimum of 13 hours per week, with regular opportunities to pick up additional shifts and provide holiday and sickness cover on weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Salary
£13.00 per hour (for applicants aged 21 and over).
Key Responsibilities
- Providing a warm, friendly welcome to members and visitors.
- Handling enquiries in person, over the phone and by email.
- Processing memberships, court bookings and payments.
- Selling retail items from our pro shop at reception.
- Assisting with opening and closing procedures.
- Monitoring access control and ensuring only authorised visitors enter the club.
- Maintaining a clean, tidy and professional reception area.
- Supporting club events and day-to-day operations.
- Helping members with booking systems, club apps and general enquiries.
- Carrying out a variety of administrative tasks as required.
We’re Looking For Someone Who
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Is confident using computers and learning new systems.
- Is organised, reliable and able to multitask.
- Enjoys working as part of a team.
- Can remain calm and professional during busy periods.
- Is flexible and willing to cover additional shifts when required.
- Has previous customer service or reception experience (preferred but not essential).
